Liberal Servings

I "dish out" Liberal Servings whenever Mr. Bush or one of his minions pisses me off enough to share my thoughts with anyone who will read them.

Name:
Location: Nacogdoches, Texas, United States

I was drafted and served in the 101st Airborne Division near Phu Bai, RVN during 1969 - 1970. I was a licensed pharmacist at the time. The army in its infinite wisdom trained me as a field artillery fire direction control specialist and sent me to the 2/11th FA Battalion at Camp Eagle, RVN where it was decided that I would become a clerk-typist! The personnel officer's reasoning was that all pharmacists could type and they needed someone like "Radar O'Reilly" (M.A.S.H.) more than they needed another "cannon aimer". During my 13 months in Vietnam I went from somewhat of a Conservative Hawk to an antiwar Liberal. Seeing and experiencing first-hand the waste, the civilian government's ineptitude in war strategy, and our failed governmental policy of "Vietnamization" is enough to turn almost any intelligent (the keyword) being into an antiwar Liberal. I am a card-carrying member of the Vietnam Veterans Against The War yet I am still as patriotic as any one. I question authority, because not doing so can lead to tyranny.

Let's Be Smart (for a change) and Cut Our Losses

"If stupidity got us into this mess, then why can't it get us out?" --Will Rogers

Yes, why can't Mr. Bush get us out of this mess? There have now been over 1,700 Americans killed-in-action and over 12,700 Americans wounded-in-action. This number of wounded does not include the more than 12,000 that have been treated for illness, non-combat injury and combat injury.

No one knows what the number of wrecked lives and marriages will be when this mistake is over. Our VA hospitals can't handle the number of mental cases resulting from men and women seeing war up close and personal. Sherman was right, war is hell. So why do we keep sending America's future to hell? Why are we repeating the mistakes of Vietnam? Didn't we learn anything from that fiasco?

There is only one thing that should be done now. Pull out of Iraq. Bring all of our troops home NOW. Leave Iraq to the Iraqis, they will be much better off without our "help".

I am a Vietnam veteran and as patriotic as the next man but I am against this illegal war which was started based upon the lies of this administration. We should all question our elected officials. Put them on the hot seat. Albert Einstein said, "Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth."
